On Thursday, November 17, 2016, students at Anna McDonald will be participating in the World Speed Stack Association's World Stack Up Day. During physical education classes, students will be cup stacking in an effort to set a NEW WORLD RECORD. The most people speed stacking in various locations in one day. Last year's record was set at 618,394. Good Luck to our stackers.
Sport stacking with Speed Stacks is an exciting individual and team sport where participants of all ages and abilities stack and unstack specially designed cups in specific patterns.
The WSSA is the official governing body for the sport. The WSSA promotes the development of Stack Meets, Clubs, Leagues and Tournaments. Speed Stacks is the leader in sport stacking and the official equipment of the WSSA. Sport Stacking is: *An integral part of more than 40,000 Physical Education programs. *A sport practiced in 54 countries worldwide and involving more than 10 million students of all ages. *An official sanctioned sport of the Amateur Athletic Union and participating sport in the Junior Olympic Games. Benefits: *It appeals to kids from all backgrounds and abilities. For the athlete and non-athlete alike, sport stacking is a great activity for promoting fitness, achievement and inclusiveness. *Improves hand-eye coordination & reaction time. *Right, left brain activation/bilateral coordination. *Exercise for the body and energizer for the brain. *Focus, concentration and ambidexterity. *Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA) Sport stacking meets all SHAPE National Standards (1-5) for physical education. November 7th "BLUE OUT" Type 1 Diabetes. Wear BLUE from head to toe. Tuesday November 8th "TIRED" of Type 1 Diabetes. Wear your pajamas. Wednesday November 9th "SOCK" it to Type 1 Diabetes. Wear your CrAzY Socks. Thursday November 10th Type 1 Diabetes can be "Hairy!" CrAzY hair day Friday November 11th "TEAM UP" to CURE Type 1 Diabetes. Wear your favorite team jersey/shirt. Our JDRF walk begins promptly at 2:30 p.m. from the front of Anna McDonald School. Students must turn in their permission slips and monetary donations no later than THURSDAY, November 10th to qualify for the walk. |
