If you hear students say "It's a jungle out there!" -- they are not kidding. With the help of the Zoo Crew, we will guide students and their families through the WILDLY adventurous and rewarding Red Out program, starting the week of January 16, 2017.
Through this amazing program, students will learn the importance of taking care of their hearts and how it works. They also learn the value of helping others and working together toward a school goal. The school in turn, receives educational resources and certificates to use for physical education equipment...so we can keep our kids MOVING! The Zoo Crew characters help the students connect with these heart healthy messages: Lion: Roary McFiercly III, inspires us to help others. Elephant: Mr. Trusker, encourages 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Zebra: Savanna Bolt, urges us to drink more WATER and avoid sugary drinks. Panda: Jade Shoots, eats more fruits and vegetables -- so should we. Monkey: Jenny Kicks, says watch out for salty foods, and KICKS them away. Penguin: Finley Chillerton, asks us to avoid cigarettes and e-cigarettes. Students who collect donations can earn the Zoo Crew characters, and a lanyard, as a thank you for supporting the American Heart Association. Students at Anna McDonald are back in action after a much needed winter break. Students returned to Physical Education Class with much excitement about the Hockey Unit. Students are using the NEW hockey equipment, which was provided by the Chicago Blackhawk's GOAL program. GOAL stands for Get Out And Learn. The program came to Anna McDonald on December 20th. Several classed pacticipated with Coach Mike and his team. Students learned the fundamental of hockey in their thirty minute session. At the end of the morning, the GOAL Program donated 30 Blackhawk hockey sticks, 30 hockey pucks, 30 Blackhawk hockey jerseys, 2 hockey goals and three books (with DVDs) about hockey.
